<tr>
<td colspan="2" valign="top" >I started running on a treadmill in February 2007. It was primarily to get in shape. Afterward, I decided I wanted to try running outdoors and knew it would be so much easier if I were doing it with a group. The ARRC Web site seemed the most NEW-runner friendly. I remember reading, “don’t know your pace, we’ll help you find it.” My goal was to run a 10 miler. With ARRC I ran Cherry Blossom (2008) and soon was looking ahead to my 50thbirthday. I decided to run a marathon as a personal celebration. I wanted it to be a good run so I ran Marine Corps (2008) to practice and see what I would need to do to make National (2009) better. My treadmill training came in handy when ARRC cancelled a run due to ice on the trail – I ran my 12 miles indoors.  I had that machine smok’n. And I’m sure I had to start it over at least twice because of the time settings. That may have been the last time I ran a treadmill. Since then, I’ve run those two marathons each year.  Last year, I missed qualifying for NYC by 14 seconds in the Wilson Bridge Half Marathon (2010), but was fortunate to have been drawn in the lottery. I ran NYC in November (2011). I also began triathlons.  I’ve completed four – DC (2010 and 2011), Columbia, MD (2011) and Nation’s (2011).  2012 will be a busy year.  I’m training for DC’s SunTrust Rock and Roll and Marine Corps marathons as well as continuing triathlons including Eagleman, a half-ironman 70.3 in June.<strong>Race Counts:</strong></p>
